Cluster headache trial got funded in Australia

Clsuter headache trial funded

I’m very excited to share some big news 🎉

Our team has received funding from the Australian MRFF to launch The Psilocybin Efficacy and Acceptability on Cluster headache Episodes (PEACE) Trial — one of the world’s first clinical studies testing psilocybin as a preventive treatment for cluster headache.

Cluster headache, often called the “suicide headache” because of its extreme pain, is one of the most disabling conditions in neurology. Attacks can strike up to 8 times a day, last for hours, and current treatments often don’t work. This will be the first NHMRC/MRFF-funded trial for cluster headache in Australia in over two decades.

Right now, we are planning and preparing the study protocols and set-up. Recruitment has not started yet — we expect this to begin in the second half of next year.

If you have cluster headache, please take a few minutes to complete this short survey

If you know someone with cluster headache, please share the link with them so they can fill it out. You can go directly to the contact details question, or fill out the full survey to provide even more support. Please also share it with others in your network.

⚠️ The biggest reason clinical trials fail is not having enough participants. Your support can truly make the difference. 💙
